A good online bank account is about more than a free card or a well-rated app. It's an everyday management tool that has to handle SEPA transfers, direct debits, international payments and the switching that comes with a changing life. At Calp, we designed our three plans — Essential, Privilege and Metal — so you stay in control of your limits, your categorisation and your accounting exports, without having to call in for the slightest change.

Premium bank card: Visa Premier or Visa Infinite metal?

The Visa Premier on our Privilege plan covers most needs: fee-free withdrawals outside the euro area, travel insurance included for trips paid with the card, and limits extended to €10,000 in monthly payments. The Visa Infinite metal, reserved for the Metal plan, adds a 24/7 concierge, limits raised to €50,000, and ticketing insurance that refunds cancelled cultural purchases. The metal body weighs 18 grams and is laser-engraved with your name.

How do I open an online bank account with Calp?

Opening an online bank account takes around eight minutes from your smartphone or computer. You enter your identity details, upload an ID document and proof of address, then sign the contract electronically. The IBAN is active straight away and the card is sent within three business days by tracked mail.

What documents do I need to open a current account?

Three documents are enough: a valid ID (national ID card, passport or residence permit), proof of address less than three months old (energy bill, rent receipt, tax notice) and an identity-verification selfie taken directly in the app. No initial deposit is required for the Essential plan.

Is the premium Calp Metal bank card free?

The Visa Infinite metal card on the Metal plan is included in the monthly fee of €24.90. It comes with premium travel insurance, extended purchase insurance, a 24/7 concierge, unlimited fee-free withdrawals outside the euro area, payment limits of €50,000 per month and access to partner airport lounges (an annual allowance applies).

What hidden fees should I watch out for?

None. Calp applies a public fee schedule, updated fourteen days in advance and sent by secure message. Payments within the euro area are free on all three plans, SEPA transfers and instant transfers are free, and the stated monthly fee (€0, €9.90 or €24.90) is the only recurring cost.

Does my old bank need to be informed?

No. Account switching is included when you open your account: we take care of notifying your former bank, along with your creditors (energy, telecoms, insurance) and your payers (employer, benefit agencies). The transfer is completed within 22 business days, in line with the 2017 Macron Act.

What happens if I lose my bank card?

You block the card instantly from the app — one tap is all it takes. Your replacement card is sent the next business day and arrives within three to five days. In the meantime, you can use a virtual card generated in the app for Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as for your online purchases.

Is the Calp account compatible with international payments?

Yes. All euro payments within the European Economic Area are free. For other currencies, the Mastercard / Visa interbank rate is applied with no mark-up on the Privilege and Metal plans. Incoming SWIFT transfers are free, and outgoing transfers are charged at cost.

How do I switch plans (Essential, Privilege, Metal)?

You can switch plans in two clicks from your client area. The new pricing applies from the first day of the following month and, if you move up to a higher plan using the same chip, no new card is sent — the upgrade is instant.
