Frequently asked questions

Your questions, our answers.

01

What is a consumer loan?

An unrestricted loan that finances any everyday goods or services: furniture, appliances, equipment, with no proof of use required.

02

What is the difference with a personal loan?

No legal difference. Consumer credit is the umbrella category governed by consumer credit law.

03

Do I need to transfer my bank account?

No. No account transfer is required. Direct debits can be made from any SEPA account.

04

Can I adjust the monthly payments?

Yes, twice a year, +/- 30% within the legal maximum term. Free of charge.

05

What is the difference between consumer credit and personal loan?

Consumer credit is a generic term covering unrestricted personal loans, restricted loans (car, home improvement), revolving credit and leasing with purchase option. The Calp personal loan is the simplest form: fixed amount, fixed monthly payment, fixed term, no proof of use required.

06

What is the maximum amount for a consumer loan?

The legal cap for consumer credit is EUR 75,000 across Europe, over 3 to 84 months. Beyond that it becomes a restricted mortgage loan or a patrimonial loan subject to different rules. Calp grants consumer loans from EUR 1,500 to EUR 75,000.

07

Does a consumer loan impact my credit scoring?

Any credit subscription is recorded in the consumer credit registry and impacts your declared debt-to-income ratio with other lenders. It does not damage your profile if repaid without incident. On the contrary, a consumer loan repaid in full contributes positively to your credit history.

A clear loan,
real projects.

No proof of use, no forced account transfer, no pricing surprises.
